Transformers Prime Name Generator

Transformers: Prime ran from 2010 to 2013 on The Hub and sits at the center of the Aligned continuity, which also includes the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games, the Exodus and Exiles novels, and Robots in Disguise (2015). Its cast is deliberately small: Team Prime is Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Bulkhead, Ratchet, Cliffjumper, Wheeljack, Smokescreen and Ultra Magnus, while the Nemesis carries Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Knock Out, Breakdown, Airachnid, Dreadwing, Skyquake, Shockwave and later the Predacon Predaking. The show kept G1 names for the leads and reserved two-word compounds with a hard edge for its new characters: Knock Out the vain medic, Breakdown the bruiser, Airachnid the spider-former, Dreadwing the honorable Seeker, Hardshell the Insecticon.

The Aligned continuity also gave the franchise its Thirteen Primes (Prima, Vector Prime, Alpha Trion, Solus Prime, Micronus, Alchemist, Nexus, Onyx, Amalgamous, Quintus, Liege Maximo, Megatronus and the Thirteenth), and Optimus's pre-Prime name Orion Pax became canon. Predacons in Prime carry beast names (Predaking, Darksteel, Skylynx, Ripclaw, Grimwing) and drones are named for their class: Vehicons, Insecticons and Terrorcons.
