Supervillain Name Generator

Supervillain names follow a few comic-book templates that have worked for decades. The power codename states the gimmick in one hit (Magnetrix, Pyroclast, Chronovore), often with a Latin or Greek ending that makes a common word sound scientific: -tron, -trix, -kinetic, -morph. The academic title announces a mastermind with a lab and a plan, which is why comics are full of Doctors, Professors and Barons. The epithet, usually with a definite article, belongs to killers and cult leaders: The Gravedancer, The Smiling Scalpel, The Hollow Choir. And the alliterative full name (Vivienne Voltage, Ignatius Pyre) gives a villain a secret identity that already sounds like a headline.

The strongest names tell readers what the villain does before the first panel. Pick the power or obsession first, then choose a word family that carries it: heat and fire give you cinders, pyre, scald and slag; cold gives rime, frost, glacier and kelvin; mind control gives mesmer, hypnos and mindshear; gravity and magnetism give lodestone, vector, inertia and polarity.

Tone is the last filter. A gadget thief wants a light, slightly silly name (Crowbar Callahan, Gorgonzola Gus); a world-ender wants weight and Latin (Omegatron, Necrolord Vask). Test the name by shouting it in a hero's voice; if it sounds ridiculous yelled across a rooftop, it may still suit a comedy villain.
