The strongest power-based superhero names describe the effect people see, not the science behind it. Storm controls weather, Iceman freezes things, Quicksilver moves fast, Cyclops fires beams from his eyes, Nightcrawler teleports in the dark. Nobody is called Thermal Reduction Man.
