Generate presentation names and titles for keynotes, business decks, class projects, pitch decks, training sessions and conference talks: big-idea titles, benefit-led how-tos, colon-and-subtitle formats, question titles and topic-specific ideas across science, history, marketing, tech, health and more.

About presentation names

A presentation title is the first slide and the line on the agenda, and for most of the audience it decides whether they lean in or check their phone. The titles that work do one of a few things well: they promise an outcome ("How We Cut Onboarding Time in Half"), they pose a question the room actually cares about ("What Your Customers Aren't Telling You"), or they state a big idea in a few words ("The Courage to Be Wrong"). A title that merely names the topic, like "Marketing Update", tells nobody why they should stay.

The right style depends on the setting. Keynotes want short, memorable phrases, often with a twist. Business decks and quarterly reviews are better served by clear, descriptive titles with a colon and a subtitle that sets scope ("Roadmap Review: The Next Two Quarters"). Class projects and academic talks should be precise about the subject while still sounding like something a person would want to hear about, and pitch decks usually open with the problem or the vision rather than the company name.

The list below mixes all of these: big-idea keynote titles, benefit-led how-tos, question titles, number titles, colon-and-subtitle formats, and topic-specific ideas across science, history, marketing, technology, health, finance, education and civic life. Use one as-is or swap in your own subject, number or audience.

How to choose presentation names

  • Match the title to the room: a witty three-word phrase suits a keynote, but a board or class presentation usually needs a descriptive title with a colon and subtitle so people know exactly what is coming.
  • Put the benefit or the tension in the title, not just the topic: "Charts That Lie" will hold attention longer than "Data Visualization Overview".
  • Keep the main title under eight words so it fits on a title slide at a large font size and stays readable in the agenda, the calendar invite and the slide-sharing thumbnail.
  • Avoid jargon in the title unless the whole audience shares it; a question a newcomer could understand usually draws a broader crowd than an insider acronym.
  • Test the title by reading it aloud as the host would introduce you: if it sounds awkward in the sentence "Next up is ___", shorten it.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a presentation title be?

Three to eight words for the main title is the sweet spot. If you need more detail, add a subtitle after a colon rather than lengthening the headline, so the title slide stays readable from the back of the room and fits in agendas and file names.

Should a presentation title be a question?

Question titles work well when the answer is genuinely something the audience wants to know and your talk delivers it. They fall flat when the question is rhetorical or obvious. "Who Owns the Data?" invites curiosity; "Is Data Important?" does not.

What makes a good title for a school or academic presentation?

Be specific about the subject and, where possible, the angle: "Causes of the French Revolution" is fine, but "Bread, Debt and Kings: Causes of the French Revolution" tells the class what to expect and shows you have a point of view. Avoid titles so clever that the topic is unclear.

Can I use these titles for PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote decks?

Yes. The titles are platform-neutral, and most work equally well for slide decks, conference talks, webinars, training sessions and pitch presentations. Put the chosen title on your opening slide and use a shortened version for the file name and agenda.
