Mobian Name Generator

Mobians are the anthropomorphic animals of the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, and their names follow one of the most recognizable conventions in gaming: a short, punchy given name followed by "the" and the species. Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna, Rouge the Bat, and Tangle the Lemur all fit the pattern. The given name almost always hints at the character's power or personality (Sonic is fast, Knuckles punches, Whisper is quiet, Surge is electric), and it is usually one or two syllables so it lands with impact.

Not every Mobian follows the formula. Amy Rose, Miles "Tails" Prower, Charmy Bee, and Fiona Fox use ordinary first and last names, often with a pun built in (Miles Prower sounds like "miles per hour"). The Archie Comics and SatAM Freedom Fighters lean even harder toward full names, such as Sally Acorn, Antoine D'Coolette, and Bunnie Rabbot. Recent IDW characters like Belle the Tinkerer show that the second half does not even have to be a species if the title says something about the character.
