In My Little Pony, a pony's name and cutie mark are two halves of the same idea. Applejack's mark is three apples and she runs an apple farm; Rarity's is three diamonds and she designs dresses; Nurse Redheart's is a heart with a cross. The show treats a name as a promise about what a foal will grow up to be good at, which is why talent-based naming feels so natural in Equestria and why so many fan OCs are built the same way.

The formula is simple: one word for the field (Cinnamon, Thunder, Rune, Cello, Satin, Bandage, Anvil) and one for the action, object, or texture within it (Swirl, Wing, Glimmer, Strings, Hem, Bloom, Spark). Bakers get pastry names, weather pegasi get cloud and storm names, unicorns with a magical talent get light and spell words, and earth ponies who farm or forge get crops and tools. Alliteration is common but not required – Sugar Drizzle sounds as Equestrian as Sonic Streak.
