Marvel Name Generator

Marvel names come in two layers, and both have rules. The codename is usually one blunt word or a tight two-word compound that describes a power, an animal or a mood: Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Winter Soldier. Titles are common too, from Doctor Doom and Baron Zemo to Captain Marvel and Madame Web, and Marvel loves colour-plus-noun combinations such as Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Green Goblin and Silver Sable. Cosmic characters get grander names (Nova, Quasar, Starbrand), street-level heroes get grittier ones (Daredevil, Punisher, Marrow).

The second layer is the alter ego, and this is where Marvel is most recognisable. Stan Lee admitted he used alliteration so he could remember his characters: Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Reed Richards, Matt Murdock, Scott Summers, Stephen Strange, Sue Storm, Wade Wilson, Otto Octavius. A new character called Rowan Reyes or Tessa Thorne instantly feels like they belong on a Marvel page, even before they get a codename.
