Symbiote Name Generator

Symbiote names in Marvel's Klyntar mythology follow one clear rule: a single English word, usually a noun or verb, that describes violence, corruption or overwhelming emotion. Venom, Carnage, Riot, Scream, Phage, Lasher, Agony, Toxin, Scorn, Mania and Sleeper all fit in one breath and sound like a threat. The name is typically the symbiote's own, carried from host to host, which is why Eddie Brock, Flash Thompson and Mac Gargan were all 'Venom' at different times. Offspring symbiotes get names in the same register but one step more extreme, so Venom's spawn is Carnage and Carnage's spawn is Toxin.

When the source stretches beyond English, it goes for something alien and unpronounceable, like Zzzxx or Krobaa, or names the god of the symbiotes Knull, a word that sounds like a blade being drawn. Comedy symbiotes (Rascal, Payback, Dreadface) work because they keep the one-word format but break the tone. Compound or hyphenated names are rare and usually mark a variant, like Anti-Venom or Hybrid.

For an original symbiote, look for words with hard consonants and a physical meaning: what the suit does to flesh (Rend, Throttle, Sear), what it feels like inside a host's head (Frenzy, Paranoia, Compulsion), or what it resembles in nature (Lamprey, Cordyceps, Mycelium). Poison names (Hemlock, Strychnine) and blood-color names (Vermilion, Sanguine) also read as symbiote-ready. Two syllables or fewer is ideal; three is the ceiling.
