Kobold Clan Name Generator

Kobold clans take their names from the three things a kobold cares about: the dragon they serve, the hole they live in, and the traps they build. In D&D lore a warren is one extended family ruled by its eldest sorcerer or a dragon's chosen overseer, so clan names tend to be devotional (Servants of Ashardalon, Brood of the Red Mother) or tied to a landmark the tribe has dug under (Gullet Pass Warren, Sunken Mill Clan). Kobolds name places for how they look from knee height, which is why so many clans are Low, Under, Deep or Hollow something.

The second convention is the two-word compound borrowed from their dragon overlords: Sunscale, Deepfang, Rustclaw, Embersnout. These work like dwarf clan names but swap stone and metal for scale, fang, tail, egg and vent. Kobolds who speak Draconic natively may use a clan word in that tongue (Clan Ixenvaar, Thurkear Warren); a sharp, hissing name full of k, x, z and double s instantly reads as kobold.

Finally, outsiders and kobolds alike use descriptive titles: the Yipping Hundred, the Trap-Setters of Gullet Pass, the Egg-Turners. These are great DM shorthand because the name tells the party what to expect before the first pit trap springs. Mix the three styles so one dungeon can hold several clans that sound related but distinct.
