Isekai Name Generator

Isekai characters usually carry two names, and the contrast between them is half the genre's charm. The first is a plain, believable Japanese name from the life before the summoning circle or the truck: Satoru Mikami, Kazuma Satou, Naofumi Iwatani, Subaru Natsuki. It is deliberately ordinary, often a salaryman or high-school student, because the joke and the wish-fulfillment both depend on the protagonist starting out as nobody. The second name belongs to the new world, and it borrows the light-novel house style: Western-sounding given names with a faintly German, French or English flavor and long aristocratic surnames, as in Rudeus Greyrat, Tanya Degurechaff, Katarina Claes or Ainz Ooal Gown.

Within that second world the sub-genres have their own conventions. Otome-game villainess stories lean on rose-scented English and French names (Evangeline Ashcroft, Claude Merveille). Overpowered demon lord stories reach for Latin and demonological names like Astaroth or Zagan. Slime, spider and sword reincarnations get short, cute or blunt names, often handed out by the protagonist to their followers. Heroines and goddesses favor light, vowel-heavy names such as Emilia, Aqua, Lumina or Celestia.
