Hive Scum Name Generator

Hive scum are the bottom rung of Necromunda's underhive: unaffiliated drifters, sump-dwellers and failed gangers who sell a lasgun and a pulse for a handful of credits. Their names reflect that. Unlike the House gangs, which carry a strong flavor (Goliath brutes, Escher matriarchs, Van Saar technicians), scum come from everywhere, so a convincing list mixes three registers. First, the Imperial Gothic baseline of Necromunda and wider 40k, with clipped, slightly archaic surnames like Catallus, Slagmyst and Targeson. Second, gutter nicknames earned in the sump: Scabbs, Two-Tooth, Ratbite, Half-Hand. Third, the occasional fallen name from the spire, a Corvin Hardane or Baertrum Arturos III who has reasons not to say why they are down here.

The most usable hive scum name is short and a little ugly. One- or two-syllable surnames full of hard consonants (Kask, Drell, Tarrow) sound right next to nicknames built from grime, injury and vermin. A handful of canon hired guns lead the list, including Kal Jerico, Scabbs, Yolanda Catallus and Mad Donna Ulanti, so you can hear the tone before picking an original for your next campaign or for the nameless scum on your gang roster.
