Ferengi Name Generator

Ferengi names in Star Trek are short, blunt and built from hard consonants: Quark, Rom, Nog, Zek, Brunt, Krax, Gral, Leck, Gint. Almost every canon name is one or two syllables, and most open with a stop or a cluster (K, G, B, Q, Br, Gr, Pl) and close on a consonant. Two-syllable names tend to end in -ek, -ak, -ok, -ik or -or (Letek, Kazago, Mordoc, Arridor, Nibor), and a few carry a doubled consonant or a buzzing z (Plegg, Nilva, Zek) that gives them a slightly comic edge. The writers wanted names that sound like a haggle: quick to say and easy to bark across a bar.

Ferengi do not use family names. Relationships are stated outright ('Quark, son of Keldar', 'my cousin Gaila', 'Uncle Frin'), and status is shown by title rather than surname: DaiMon for a ship commander, Liquidator for an FCA agent, Grand Nagus for the head of the Alliance. The few named women, Ishka, Prinadora, Nandi, Lumba, sound softer and often end in a vowel, though they keep the same hard onsets.
