Vulcan Name Generator

Vulcan names have one of the most consistent patterns in Star Trek. Male names are usually short, often five letters, and overwhelmingly begin with S and end with K: Spock, Sarek, Sybok, Surak, Sonak, Solok. Others swap the initial letter but keep the clipped feel (Tuvok, Vorik, Taurik, Koss, Kov). Female names most often begin with the prefix T' followed by a capitalized syllable: T'Pol, T'Pau, T'Pring, T'Pel, T'Lar. Not every Vulcan woman follows it, though; Saavik, Valeris, Sakonna, and Selar show that S-names work for either sex.

Behind the scenes, Gene Roddenberry set the S-k convention for the original series, and later writers extended it. Vulcans do have family names, but they are rarely used with outsiders because, as Spock's mother Amanda put it, humans cannot pronounce them. Spock's full name is sometimes given as S'chn T'gai Spock, which is why nearly every Vulcan on screen goes by a single name. The apostrophe in female names is a glottal stop, and it belongs only after the T.

Whether you need a Starfleet science officer, a kolinahr master at Mount Seleya, or a member of the Vulcan High Command, the names should sound like they were written by the show's staff.
