Encanto Name Generator
Madrigal relatives, gifts and townspeople for the valley
Browse 500 Encanto style names. The list opens with names from the film, the Madrigal family from Mirabel and Abuela Alma to Bruno, then moves to new names for the same valley: relatives like Rosalía Madrigal and Tía Eulalia, gifted villagers like Celestina the Rain Listener, townspeople like Don Aurelio and Señora Villamizar, children like Pachito and animals like Guayaba.
About Encanto names
The family at the heart of Encanto is the Madrigals: Abuela Alma, her triplets Julieta, Pepa and Bruno, the husbands Agustín and Félix, and the grandchildren Isabela, Luisa, Mirabel, Dolores, Camilo and Antonio, all living in the enchanted house they call Casita. They carry everyday Colombian Spanish names, and a few seem chosen with care: Alma is the Spanish word for soul, Dolores means sorrows, and Mirabel begins with mira, which means look.
The first 20 names here are from the film, given as names only: the twelve Madrigals, Abuelo Pedro, Mariano Guzmán and his mother, Casita, one villager and three of Antonio's animals. It is a starting point for fans and not a complete cast list.
Everything after Osvaldo is new and written for the same valley: more Madrigals, relatives with a family title (Tía Eulalia, Abuelo Teodoro), villagers with a short gift byname, townspeople addressed with Don, Doña or Señora, tradespeople such as Chepe el Arriero, children's names and diminutives like Pachito and Martica, animal names taken from fruit, sweets and weather, and a few rooms and places. The people carry real Spanish given names and surnames that are common in Colombia.
How to choose Encanto names
- For a new family member, keep the habit of a plain given name that quietly fits the gift. Rocío means dew, Nieves means snows and Alba means dawn, which is why they appear here as Rocío the Dew Gatherer, Nieves the Frost Melter and Alba the Dawn Bringer.
- Family titles do a lot of work in a big household. Tía, Tío, Primo, Prima, Abuela and Abuelo go in front of the given name with no surname, as in Tía Eulalia or Primo Danilo.
- Don and Doña go with a first name (Don Aurelio, Doña Pastora), while Señor, Señora and Señorita go with a surname (Señora Villamizar). Mixing them up is the quickest way to make a townsperson sound wrong.
- Colombian Spanish often forms the diminutive with -ico or -ica after a t, which gives Martica and Robertico beside the usual Pachito and Carmencita. Use a diminutive for a child or a much-loved aunt.
- For Antonio's room, name an animal after something small and sweet from the kitchen or the garden: Guayaba, Panela, Arequipe and Lulo all suit a capybara or a coati.
Frequently asked questions
What are the Encanto character names?
The Madrigal family is Abuela Alma, her children Julieta, Pepa and Bruno, the husbands Agustín and Félix, and the grandchildren Isabela, Luisa, Mirabel, Dolores, Camilo and Antonio. The list also gives Abuelo Pedro, Mariano Guzmán, Señora Guzmán and the house, Casita. Those names open the list, which is not a complete cast record.
Which names are from the film and which are new?
The first 20 entries, from Mirabel to Osvaldo, are names from the film. Every name after that is an original idea for the same setting, such as Rosalía Madrigal, Tía Eulalia, Celestina the Rain Listener or Don Aurelio. The new names are not presented as film characters, and this page is a fan resource with no connection to Disney.
Are the new names real Colombian names?
The given names and surnames are real ones in everyday use in Colombia, including surnames such as Villamizar, Restrepo, Londoño and Zuluaga. The gift bynames, the rooms and the valley places are invented. Accents are written the way Spanish spells them, as in Rosalía, Joaquín and Aníbal.
What do the animal names mean?
Most are Spanish words for fruit, sweets and weather. Guayaba is guava, Mantequilla is butter, Panela is unrefined cane sugar, Trueno is thunder and Neblina is mist. They are meant for the capybaras, coatis, toucans, tapirs and donkeys a child might add to Antonio's room.
