Earthbender Name Generator

Earthbenders in Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra come from the Earth Kingdom, so their names draw on Chinese sounds: Toph, Bumi, Haru, Tyro, Kuvira, Bolin, Long Feng, Kyoshi. Most go by a single one- or two-syllable given name, and only prominent families carry a surname, which is why Toph, Lin and Suyin are all Beifongs while the villagers of Gaipan and Chin are just Haru and Tyro. Given names tend toward blunt, grounded syllables (Tu, Shan, Gang, Shi, Tie) that echo words for earth, mountain, iron and stone.

Sub-styles matter. Earth Rumble wrestlers fight under stage names (The Boulder, The Big Bad Hippo, The Gecko, Headhunter), and the Blind Bandit is the most famous of all. Sandbenders of the Si Wong desert use harsher names like Ghashiun and Sha-Mo. Zaofu's metal clan and Republic City's police favor crisp, modern-sounding names (Kuvira, Aiwei, Wei, Wing, Huan), while the Kyoshi novels add older forms like Jianzhu, Lao Ge and Lek. Lavabenders such as Ghazan have no style of their own, but a hard-edged name suits the discipline.

The list mixes canon characters with original names in each of those registers, including full names with invented clan surnames, titled Dai Li agents and Zaofu guards, and epithets like Rockslide Rhee for a fighter or folk hero.
