About fpe names
Fundamental Paper Education, Kaaatie's animated series about a paper-cutout school where getting a question wrong is fatal, names its characters with a deliberate split. The teachers are named for what they teach or what they are: Miss Circle is the geometry teacher who is literally a circle, Miss Bloomie is soft and flowery on the surface, and Miss Thavel is a short, invented word that sounds like a surname. Every teacher carries a title (Miss, never a first name) which keeps them distant and official even while they are terrifying.
The students get the opposite treatment: plain, friendly first names like Claire, Oliver, Edward, Abbie, Alice, Dave and Rebecca, the sort of names on a real elementary roll call. The one exception is Zip, a one-syllable nickname that tells you she is small and fast before she says a word. That contrast, formal object-teachers versus ordinary kids, is what makes an FPE OC name read as authentic.
The list below starts with the canon cast, then offers original teacher names built from shapes, stationery, subjects and flowers, a long run of plain student first names from retro to modern, and short Zip-style nicknames like Dot, Pip, Tack and Scribbles. Mix a title with an object for staff, or pick a single plain name for a student.
Tips for choosing a name
- For a teacher OC, choose the subject first, then the object: a music teacher becomes Miss Treble or Mr. Clef, an art teacher becomes Miss Palette, and the scary factor comes from how sharp the object is (Mr. Scissors, Miss Stapler, Mr. Thumbtack).
- Keep student names plain and one or two syllables. Claire, Oliver and Abbie fit; Seraphina or Xavier read like a different show. Save elaborate names for a rich or new-transfer character where standing out is the point.
- Nicknames like Zip work when they describe a trait: Dot for a tiny student, Scribbles for a messy one, Tack for a sharp-tongued one. Pair it with a 'real' name for your character sheet if you want both.
- Flower names (Miss Daisy, Miss Marigold) signal a Bloomie-type teacher who seems kind; shape and tool names signal a Circle-type strict teacher. Use that shorthand so readers guess the personality from the name.
- Check the FPE wiki before using a canon-sounding name for an OC; fans will assume Miss Square or Mr. Triangle is meant as Miss Circle's relative, so decide whether you want that connection.
Frequently asked questions
What are the FPE character names?
The main teachers are Miss Circle, Miss Bloomie and Miss Thavel. The core students include Claire, Oliver, Edward, Abbie, Zip, Alice, Dave and Rebecca. The series is still releasing episodes, so newer characters may not be included here; check the official videos for the latest cast.
How do I name an FPE teacher OC?
Follow the canon pattern: a title (Miss or Mr.) plus a school object, shape, subject word or flower. Miss Circle is a shape, Miss Bloomie is a flower-ish word, so Miss Compass, Mr. Eraser, Miss Decimal or Miss Lilac all fit. One-word objects work better than two, and the more pointed the object, the more dangerous the teacher sounds.
Do FPE students have last names?
The show does not give students surnames; they go by single first names like Claire or Oliver, and teachers go by title plus one word. If you want a surname for a character sheet, keep it plain and short (Claire Whitfield, Oliver Benn) so it does not overpower the canon style.
Can I use these names for FPE fan art, animations or Roblox games?
The original names in this list are free to use for OCs, fan animations, comics and games. Canon characters and the series itself belong to Kaaatie, so credit the source and keep canon names for fan works rather than products you sell.
