Draconian Name Generator

Draconians are the dragon-men of Krynn, hatched in the Dragonlance setting from the corrupted eggs of good dragons and bred in five castes: Baaz, Kapak, Bozak, Sivak and Aurak. Their names in the novels are short, hard and closed by a consonant, one or two syllables you could bark across a battlefield: Kang, Slith, Gloth, Fulkth, Granak, Cresel. Draconians have no surnames; they are known by their regiment, their caste or a deed. When the first female draconians appear in Draconian Measures they get slightly softer names (Fonrar, Thesik, Hanra, Shanra) that still end hard or in a rolled r.

The phonology that makes a name sound draconian rather than generically orcish is the mix of dragon-hiss and soldier-grunt: k, g, th, sk, zh and doubled s clusters, short vowels, and endings like -ak, -ith, -oth, -esh and -ul. Longer, more sibilant names suit the spell-casting Bozak and Aurak (Thessalor, Maugrith, Vakresh), while the brute Baaz and Kapak get the shortest (Gruk, Vok, Tesh).

This list mixes single names for rank-and-file troops, longer names for officers and sorcerers, female names, two-part names with a clutch or regiment word, and a few names with earned epithets such as Wingbreaker or Ninefingers. It also works for any dragon-blooded humanoid race outside Krynn.
