Dorne Name Generator

Dorne sounds different from the rest of Westeros because it was settled twice: first by the Andals and First Men, then by Nymeria's Rhoynar, who sailed up the Greenblood in ten thousand ships. The 'salty' Dornish of the coast carry the Rhoynish legacy in names heavy with vowels and soft consonants (Nymeria, Arianne, Ellaria, Tyene, Obara, Qoren, Morion), and they keep the Rhoynish habit of letting the eldest child inherit regardless of sex. The 'stony' Dornish of the Red Mountains (Yronwoods, Fowlers, Wyls, Manwoodys) use names that would pass in the Reach or the Stormlands, while 'sandy' Dornish of the deserts fall between the two.

Three conventions make a name read as Dornish. Bastards take the surname Sand, and unlike elsewhere in Westeros it carries little shame, so Ellaria Sand can sit openly at Prince Doran's table. Rulers are styled Prince or Princess rather than King or Lord, a title Dorne kept when it bent the knee. And the houses are few and distinctive: Martell, Dayne, Yronwood, Uller, Fowler, Dalt, Santagar, Allyrion, Blackmont, Vaith, Qorgyle, Jordayne, Toland, Manwoody, Gargalen, Wyl, plus Ladybright, Drinkwater and Wells.

The list below mixes canon characters with original nobles for every house, new Sand bastards, smallfolk and sellswords, Rhoynish first names, and places from Sunspear and the Water Gardens to invented desert holdfasts.
