Ships in Dungeons & Dragons follow real maritime naming habits with a fantasy twist.   • Match name to hull type: a two-word virtue for a warship or galleon, a bird or fish for a fast sloop, a joke for a smuggler's cutter.
  • Give the ship a nickname the crew uses (the Bounty for the Baldur's Bounty) so it feels lived-in.
  • Spelljammer names should reference wildspace, the phlogiston, comets, or the ship's shape (Hammerhead, Squid Ship, Nautiloid).
