Ghosts in Destiny 2 are born nameless from the Traveler and are almost always named by the Guardian they revive, which is why canon Ghost names are all over the map: Osiris's Sagira, Cayde-6's Sundance, Saint-14's Geppetto, Zavala's Targe, Ikora's Ophiuchus, Ana Bray's Jinju, Crow's Glint, Eris Morn's Brya, and the notorious Pulled Pork. Your own Ghost is only ever called Little Light, so there is no wrong answer.

The best Ghost names share a few traits. They are short, because you shout them mid-firefight; a little affectionate, because a Ghost is a companion; and they usually nod to light, stars or knowledge, since every Ghost is a shard of the Traveler and most of them talk like a librarian. Warlock Ghosts lean toward star names and old astronomers (Vega, Kepler, Hypatia), Titan Ghosts toward sturdy one-word names (Bastion, Rivet, Aegis), and Hunter Ghosts toward snacks, nicknames and dry jokes (Biscuit, Wingman, Plan B).

This list mixes the canon names with hundreds of originals in the same register: star and constellation names, Golden Age references like Clovis and Ishtar, lantern and light words, Japanese and Latin words for brightness, small birds and sparks.
