Denobulans, the species of Doctor Phlox from Star Trek: Enterprise, use a single name with no family name attached, which fits a culture where a person may have three spouses who each have three spouses of their own. Every Denobulan seen on screen follows the pattern: Phlox, his wife Feezal, his sons Mettus and Tullis, and the geologists Zepht, Trevix and Yolen from the episode The Breach. The names are short, usually one or two syllables, and lean on hard consonant clusters (phl, tr, zp, ks) with clipped endings in -x, -s, -t, -l and -n.
