Brute Name Generator

A brute is defined by mass and menace, and the name should land like a fist. Fantasy games and fiction use a consistent phonetic recipe: one or two syllables, a hard opening consonant (Br-, Gr-, Kr-, Thr-), a low back vowel, and a blunt closing stop, which is why Grukk, Thrask and Bolgar read as brutes instantly. Longer brute names usually bolt a plain, literal epithet onto that grunt: Bonegrinder, Wallbreaker, Halfear, Two-Hands. Not every brute is a monster. Human heavies in a thieves' guild, a tavern or a fighting pit get nicknames instead: Big Harl, Ham-Fist Ollo, Knuckles Crane, One-Eye Dorrek. A physical trait or a tool plus an ordinary given name is the classic form, and it works in everything from sword-and-sorcery to grimdark. Halo's Jiralhanae Brutes go a different way entirely, borrowing Latin endings (Tartarus, Atriox, Escharum, Decimus) so the name sounds imperial and disciplined rather than dumb.

Pick the register that matches your brute: guttural grunts for orcs, ogres and warband muscle, Latin names for an organized alien or imperial force, nicknames for humans, and heavy -a or -ga endings for female brutes like Gorga or Thruga.
