Arcanist Name Generator

An arcanist in The Elder Scrolls Online is a scholar who bargains with Apocrypha, the library-realm of Hermaeus Mora, and turns its forbidden pages into green runeblades, Fatecarver beams and glowing crux sigils. The class arrived with the Necrom chapter, so the names that fit it best are Tamriel names with a bookish slant: a Dunmer magister from the Telvanni Peninsula (Velas Tilvani, Archmagister Velon Sarethi), an Altmer lore-seeker in the mould of Leramil the Wise, a Redguard polymath like the companion Azandar al-Cybiades, or a Khajiit with the -jo suffix that marks a mage. Outside ESO, an arcanist is simply a caster who treats magic as scholarship, which is why Pathfinder's hybrid class and countless homebrew settings use the word. Those names lean on old-world given names paired with surnames that sound like ink, parchment and quiet rooms (Ysolde Quillmere, Thaddeus Crane), or on epithets earned in the stacks: the Annotator, the Unread, of Endless Margins.
