Bosmer Name Generator

Bosmer, the Wood Elves of Valenwood, have the softest-sounding names of any Elder Scrolls race. Bethesda drew heavily on Welsh and Sindarin phonetics: Faendal, Malborn, Niruin, Anoriath, Elrindir, Methredhel, Glarthir, Fargoth, Ungolim. Male names commonly end in -il, -ir, -or, -on, -dir or -dil, while female names favour -iel, -wen, -ith or -a (Nimriel, Nivenor, Beleval, Andragil, Alawen). Consonant clusters stay gentle: lots of l, r, n, th, dh and w, very few hard k or z sounds. That is what separates a Bosmer from the grander, Quenya-flavoured Altmer (Ancano, Ondolemar) or the harsher Dunmer.

Bosmer rarely use surnames. Most are known by a single name, sometimes with a place or trade attached: 'of Falinesti', 'of Elden Root', Treethane, Spinner, Silvenar. The exceptions are dynastic families such as the Camorans (Mankar, Haymon, Ruma, Aeradan), and characters of mixed heritage. Titles from Green Pact culture add flavour: the Silvenar and Green Lady are the spiritual leaders of the Bosmer, Treethanes govern settlements, Spinners are storytellers, and Wilderking is a legendary title.
