Altean Name Generator

Alteans are the ancient, shape-shifting, alchemy-wielding people of planet Altea in Voltron: Legendary Defender, and their names share a recognisable music. Canon gives us Allura, Alfor, Coran, Honerva, Melenor, Romelle, Bandor, Merla, Luca, Tavo, Hira and Moontow, plus half-Altean Lotor. Notice the pattern: open vowels, doubled liquids (ll, rr), soft endings in -a, -or, -an, -elle and -erva, and almost no harsh clusters. That softness is deliberate; it contrasts with the clipped, guttural Galra names (Zarkon, Sendak, Haxus) that Alteans are usually set against.

Most Alteans go by a single name, with no family name at all; Coran's full name (Coran Hieronymus Wimbleton Smythe) is a comic exception. Older or noble Alteans trend longer and more ornate (Honerva, Melenor, Thessandor), while younger characters and colonists get shorter, friendlier forms (Luca, Tavo, Merla). Alternate-reality Alteans such as Hira and Moontow show the same phonology can stretch in slightly stranger directions.

This list mixes canon names with original ones built on those rules, so you can pick something that sits naturally next to Allura in a scene. Pair the name with pointed ears, cheek marks in a chosen colour and a reason your character survived the fall of Altea, and the rest of the OC tends to write itself.
