Elf Kingdom Name Generator

Elf kingdom names tend to follow one of two traditions. The first is the Tolkien model, where the name is a real word in an invented Elvish language: Lothlórien means "Lórien of the blossom," Doriath is "land of the fence," and Nargothrond is "the great underground fortress on the river Narog." Names in this style lean on liquid consonants (l, r, n, th), open vowels, and endings like -ien, -ion, -dor, -mar and -las. The second tradition is the poetic English title used by D&D and Warhammer settings: the Silver Marches, Ashenvale, Athel Loren, the Court of Falling Leaves. Both feel elven because they evoke age, forests, starlight and moonlight rather than iron and conquest.

A good elf kingdom name should hint at how the realm is ruled and where it sits. High elves in shining cities suit grand, Quenya-flavored names such as Aeloria or Tirimir. Wood elves hidden in old-growth forest suit softer, earthier names like Everwood, Neldoreth or Kingdom of the Silver Boughs. Twilight, autumn and winter courts hint at fey influence or a fading, melancholy people. Many worldbuilders also give the realm two names: the elves' own word (Caladhrim) and the plainer name humans use for it (the Greywood), which instantly makes the setting feel lived-in.
