Generate Akame ga Kill names for OCs and fan fiction: the Night Raid and Jaegers cast for reference, original Imperial Arms in the series' format such as Mirage Edge: Kagerou and Thousand Knots: Gordian, Danger Beasts like Ironback Boar, squads, single-name assassins and officers like Minister Prudent.

About Akame ga Kill names

Akame ga Kill has two naming habits. People go by one short name that can come from any language, such as Akame, Tatsumi, Leone, Najenda and Bulat, or by a blunt English word worn as a name: Wave, Run, Mine, Prime Minister Honest, Dr. Stylish. The relic weapons called Imperial Arms (Teigu in Japanese) get the grand treatment instead: an epithet, a colon and a name, as in One-Cut Killer: Murasame, Demon Armor: Incursio and Roman Artillery: Pumpkin.

Forty-six entries in this list are canon: the members of Night Raid and the Jaegers, a few court figures and rival groups, and the best-known Imperial Arms. They are a reference, not a full cast list. Everything else is original and written in the same style for your own characters. About half of it is new Imperial Arms in the epithet-and-name form, spread across blades, armor, guns, threads, living beasts and instruments, with names taken from stars, storms, virtues, mythic beasts and old literature (Mirage Edge: Kagerou, Lion Heart: Regulus, Storm Caller: Prospero). The rest is Danger Beasts, squads in the mould of Night Raid and Wild Hunt, single-name assassins and rebels, and imperial officers named by one telling word.

None of the original names is canon, and none has a place in the story.

How to choose Akame ga Kill names

  • Build an Imperial Arm in three parts: what it does, a colon, then a proper name. The epithet should hint at the power (Mirror Plate, Thousand Knots, Dream Eater) and the name should sound borrowed from somewhere older, like a star, a myth or a musical term.
  • Give people one name. A rebel or assassin needs only Kaede, Odile or Latch; keep titles for the Empire's side, where Minister Prudent or General Stalwart gives the rank and the temperament at once.
  • Name squads after what they do or when they move. Night Raid, the Jaegers (German for hunters) and Wild Hunt set the pattern; Dawn Raid, The Nachtwache and Winter Hunt follow it.
  • Let the wielder and the relic contrast. Mine carries Roman Artillery: Pumpkin and Wave wears Carnage Incarnate: Grand Chariot, so a rebel called Tally carrying Final Argument: Rhetoric fits the tone.
  • Keep canon and original apart in fan works. Say which relics are your own so readers do not go looking for them in the manga.

Frequently asked questions

Who are the main characters in Akame ga Kill?

The story follows Tatsumi and the assassin group Night Raid: Akame, Mine, Leone, Sheele, Lubbock, Bulat, Chelsea, Susanoo and their leader Najenda. Their main opponents are the Jaegers, led by Esdeath, with Wave, Kurome, Seryu Ubiquitous, Bols, Run and Dr. Stylish. All of these names are in the list.

What are Imperial Arms and how are they named?

Imperial Arms, or Teigu, are the relic weapons of the series. Each has an epithet followed by a name, such as One-Cut Killer: Murasame or Demon Armor: Incursio. The original ones here follow the same form, for example Rain Curtain: Shigure, Hundred Barrels: Hydra and Marching Order: Cadenza.

Which names in the list are canon?

The Night Raid and Jaegers members named above, plus Koro, Prime Minister Honest, General Budo, Sayo and Ieyasu; Syura, Dorothea and Izou of Wild Hunt; and the Three Beasts, Liver, Daidara and Nyau. The four group names (Night Raid, The Jaegers, Wild Hunt, The Three Beasts) are canon as well. The canon Imperial Arms are Murasame, Incursio, Pumpkin, Extase, Cross Tail, Gaea Foundation, Demon's Extract, Grand Chariot, Yatsufusa, Hekatonkheires, Rubicante, Mastema, Adramelech and Shambhala. Every other entry is an original name in the style of the setting.

Can I use these names for an OC or fan fiction?

Yes. The original names are written for fan characters, squads and relics, and none of them is canon. Canon names are listed for reference and belong to the series and its creators.
