Yautja Name Generator

Yautja, the species better known as Predators, almost never introduce themselves on screen, so their names come from three different sources. The first is the Yautja language built up in the Dark Horse comics, the Aliens vs. Predator novels, and the games: guttural, click-heavy words such as Dachande (the hunter humans called Broken Tusk), Da'dtou-di ('little knife', the name given to Machiko Noguchi), Yeyinde ('brave one'), Bakuub ('straight spear'), Guan-thwei ('night blood'), and Setg'in ('deadly-quick'). Apostrophes mark clicks and glottal stops, hyphens join compounds, and words like thwei (blood), kv'var (hunt), and sain'ja (warrior) recur inside longer names.

The second source is the earned title. Yautja culture is built around the hunt and the trophies it yields, so a hunter is often known by a scar, a broken tusk, a distinctive mask, or a famous kill: Broken Tusk, Top-Knot, Big Mama, Long Spear, Stone Heart, Swift Knife. These are the names other Yautja and their prey remember, and they change over a lifetime as a Blooded hunter becomes an Elder.

The third source is the film and game nickname. The 1987 hunter is the Jungle Hunter, the 1990 one is the City Hunter, and later films gave us Scar, Celtic, Chopper, Wolf, Berserker (Mr. Black), Falconer, Tracker, the Fugitive, the Upgrade, and the Feral Predator of Prey. Predator: Badlands finally put spoken names on screen with Dek, Kwei, and Njohrr. The list here draws on all three traditions, so you can pick a Young Blood, a Bad Blood, or a clan Elder and have the name feel like it came from the franchise.
