World of Warcraft goblins are the mercantile, explosives-obsessed traders of Kezan and Bilgewater Harbor, and their names run on the same fuel as their culture: speed, money, and things that go bang. Canon goblins such as Gazlowe, Jastor Gallywix, Sassy Hardwrench, Hobart Grapplehammer, Grizzek Fizzwrench, and Marin Noggenfogger show two things at once. First names are short and snappy, often ending in a hard consonant or a quick -y/-ie (Gazlowe, Sassy, Rizzle, Kaja), and a surprising number are just gangster-flavored human nicknames like Vinnie, Rocco, or Sal. Surnames are compound words that mash together a tool, a weapon, or a coin with an action: Hardwrench, Grapplehammer, Fizzwrench, Sparkstrike, Bombfizzle.

Goblin society is organized into trade cartels, so titles are a big part of a goblin's name. Trade Prince, Trade Baron, Boss, Foreman, Bruiser, Blastmaster, and Auctioneer all appear on canon NPCs and make excellent RP prefixes. Many low-level goblins are known only by a single word plus a title, such as Boss Mida or Foreman Grizzlebolt.

The difference between a goblin name and a gnome name is attitude. Gnome surnames sound like inventions; goblin surnames sound like a business scheme or a workplace accident. If your name could be a shady pawn shop or a demolition company, it belongs in Bilgewater.
