Wookiee Name Generator

Wookiee names are written approximations of Shyriiwook, a language of growls, roars and barks, so the spelling conventions signal sounds a human throat cannot quite make. Canon and Legends names show the pattern clearly. Chewbacca, Lowbacca and Mallatobuck share the -bacca/-buck ending; Tarfful, Wullffwarro and Freyyr double their consonants; Kashyyyk, Raabakyysh and Ralrracheen stack vowels or pile up r's; and longer names like Attichitcuk, Dewlannamapia and Lumpawaroo run to four or five syllables. Short, hard names (Gungi, Sagwa, Zaalbar, Hanharr) exist too, and they tend to belong to warriors and scouts rather than elders.

A convincing original Wookiee name usually has at least one of these features: a rolled rr, a doubled k, l or w, a long aa/oo/uu vowel, or a recognizable ending such as -warr, -wook, -akk, -arra, -ook or -yysh. Two or three at once (Wullffwarro, Grakchawwaa) read as unmistakably Wookiee; more than that looks like a keyboard accident. Relatives do not share a root the way human surnames do (Chewbacca's son is Lumpawaroo, his father Attichitcuk), but they share the overall sound of their clan.
