Ewok Name Generator

Ewok names come from Ewokese, the chattering language of Bright Tree Village that Ben Burtt built for Return of the Jedi from Kalmyk and Tibetan recordings. Canon names are short and bouncy, usually two syllables with a hard consonant in the middle: Wicket, Paploo, Teebo, Logray, Chirpa, Kneesaa, Latara, Malani, Wiley, Winda, Nippet, Lumat, Warok, Romba, Tokkat. Doubled letters and "-ee", "-oo" and "-a" endings are everywhere, and a handful of names carry a hyphen or apostrophe (Chukha-Trok, Ra-Lee, Nho'Apakk) for a rougher, hunter-like sound.

Ewoks in the wider canon also have family names, though they rarely use them: Wicket's full name is Wicket Wystri Warrick, and his brothers Weechee and Widdle and parents Deej and Shodu share the surname. Roles show up as informal titles rather than parts of the name, so an Ewok is Chief Chirpa, shaman Logray, or a young "wokling" like Nippet and Malani.
