Weatherman names sit in a sweet spot between plausible and slightly cartoonish, because real TV forecasters have been leaning into the gimmick for decades. The classic local-news weatherman has a short, friendly first name (Chip, Skip, Dale, Hal, Sunny) and a surname that is either solid and anchor-like (Kessler, Whitlock, Sandoval) or quietly on the nose (Storm, Winters, Frost, Gale). Many real forecasters really do go by names like Dallas Raines and Storm Field, so a pun that would be absurd for a surgeon is fair game in front of a green screen.

The list moves through three registers. First, subtly weather-flavored names that a viewer might not notice (Misty Rainier, Rayne Castillo, Holden Frost). Second, believable station rosters with the kind of regional and cultural mix you see on real broadcasts, men and women both. Third, full comedy: alliterative hurricane-and-hailstone names, meteorology-term names (Doppler Dave Dunning, Isobar Ike Isaacson) and forecast-segment gags like Six O'Clock Sid Saunders and Pollen Count Polly Pritchard.

Use them for a sitcom or screenplay newsroom, a video game radio station, a parody weather report, a fictional almanac, a newscaster costume, a Dungeons and Dragons town crier with a barometer, or a cheerful alter ego for your own weather videos.
