Clan cats have a prefix given at birth and a suffix earned at their warrior ceremony, like Fireheart or Bluestar. Rogues never had a ceremony, so they have a single name with no suffix, usually a plain word such as Bone, Slash, Raven or Roach. The only rogues with two-part names are cats who were exiled from a Clan and kept the name they had.

All three live outside the Clans and use one-word names. A kittypet lives with Twolegs and has a pet name like Jake or Princess. A loner lives wild but keeps the peace, like Barley or Purdy. A rogue lives wild and fights the Clans, steals prey or tries to take territory, like Scourge, Darktail or Slash. Rogue names are the harshest of the three.

Yes. Canon names are fine for fan fiction and most roleplay groups allow original rogue names freely because they do not need a prefix and suffix to be approved. If your roleplay has a BloodClan or rogue group, check whether it prefers Twolegplace-style names (Brick, Tin) or forest-style names (Thorn, Hawk) before you commit.
