Valyrian Dragon Name Generator

Targaryen dragons are named in two distinct traditions. The oldest and grandest carry High Valyrian names ending in -ion, -ax, -es, or -yx: Balerion, Vhagar, Meraxes, Caraxes, Syrax, Vermithor, Tessarion, Arrax, Tyraxes. Many are named for the gods of Old Valyria – Balerion, Meraxes, and Vhagar were all deities of the Freehold – so the sound is heavy, sonorous, and vaguely Greco-Roman, with hard consonants and long vowels. Daenerys continued the pattern by naming her three for the men in her life: Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.

The second tradition is the Common Tongue name, given especially by younger riders and Westerosi-born Targaryens: Sunfyre, Silverwing, Dreamfyre, Seasmoke, Moondancer, Stormcloud, Grey Ghost, and Sheepstealer. These describe the dragon's color or temperament, often with the archaic -fyre spelling. Wild or unclaimed dragons tend to earn nicknames like The Cannibal or, in Balerion's case, the Black Dread.

This list mixes every canon dragon from the books and shows with new names built the same way – Valyrian roots like zaldrīzes (dragon), perzys (fire), zōbrie (dark), and vezof (sun) reshaped with the classic endings, alongside fresh common-tongue names in the Silverwing mould.
