Umbaran Name Generator

Umbarans are the pale, near-human people of Umbara, the Shadow World, a planet in the Ghost Nebula whose sun barely lights the surface and whose forests glow with bioluminescent plants. Star Wars gives us only a handful of named Umbarans, most famously Sly Moore, the silent aide at Chancellor Palpatine's side, and Senator Mee Deechi from The Clone Wars. Both names share a pattern: a clipped one-syllable given name built on a long vowel (Sly, Mee) followed by a soft, two-syllable family name (Moore, Deechi). That is the template everything here follows.

To stay consistent with that sound, the original names lean on doubled and long vowels (ee, oo, aa, yy), soft consonants (s, sh, l, m, n, v, th, dh) and only the occasional hard k or t. Given names are mostly one or two syllables (Vaan, Teel, Ryys, Meesha); family names run two or three (Ollosh, Theshuul, Derevee). A few hyphenated given names and single-word names suggest the layered castes and secretive ranks Umbaran society is known for, and House names such as Deechi, Moore and Vaase can tie characters into a lineage.
