Therian Name Generator

Therians are people who identify, on some level, as a non-human animal — their theriotype — and many choose a name that reflects that animal self, separate from their legal name. Community naming conventions are noticeably quieter than in fandom spaces: the most common therian names are single nature words (Ash, Fern, Moss, Rowan, Wren, Slate, Dusk) or plain animal and habitat words (Fox, Lynx, Timber, Tundra). Names that describe coat colors — Fawn, Roan, Brindle, Russet, Sable — are popular because they can match how someone experiences their theriotype's body.

A second stream borrows real-language animal words: Latin genus names (Vulpes, Lupus, Corvus, Cervus), Japanese animal words (Kitsune, Ookami, Karasu, Shika), and human names that literally mean wolf, deer, or raven (Ylva, Faolan, Ronan, Bran, Ulric). Younger therians and those who came in through Warrior Cats often use compound names — Moonpaw, Foxfire, Ashpelt, Duskwhisker — though the community tends to view those as more "OC" than identity, so it's worth deciding which you want.

A good therian name feels true rather than cool. Many people pick a word that describes how their theriotype moves (Lope, Skulk, Softpad), where it lives (Fen, Glade, Ridge), or what time of day it comes forward (Vesper, Gloaming, Dawn). Short names also work better as usernames, in packs and Discord servers, and when a friend needs to say it out loud.
