Sylvari Name Generator

Sylvari are the youngest race in Guild Wars 2, born fully grown from the Pale Tree in the Grove, and ArenaNet gave them a very deliberate naming style: single names drawn from Welsh, Irish and Scottish Gaelic, with a strong Arthurian undertone. Caithe, Faolain, Wynne, Niamh, Riannoc, Trahearne, Cadeyrn, Dagonet, Kahedins, Malomedies, Canach and Ceara all fit this pattern. Notice the double vowels, the soft 'th' and 'dh' sounds and the -wen, -yn, -ach and -oc endings; that Celtic music is what makes a name read as Sylvari rather than as a generic elf.

Sylvari have no surnames or family lines because every one of them is a child of the Pale Tree. Instead a name might be paired with a role or title: Mender, Warden, Valiant, Firstborn, Sapling, or, for those who reject the Dream, Nightmare Courtier, Knight and Duke or Duchess of the Nightmare Court. Names are not strongly gendered, and Sylvari themselves treat gender loosely, so almost any name in the list works for any character. Players often choose the Cycle of their character's awakening (Dawn, Noon, Dusk, Night) and pick a name that feels bright, warm, shadowed or quiet to match.

This generator blends canon Sylvari with a large pool of real Welsh and Irish names and Arthurian names, plus a few plant-flavoured coinages, so you can name a Dreamer for the Pact, a Nightmare Court antagonist or a Soundless hermit who wants nothing to do with either.
