Survivor Team Name Generator

Survivor-themed team names borrow from three places: the show's own vocabulary, the island setting, and the misery of camp life. Show vocabulary gives you buffs, torches, idols, blindsides, the merge, tribal council, and Jeff Probst's catchphrases (Come on in, guys; The tribe has spoken). Setting gives you Polynesian-sounding tribe words, reef and lagoon imagery, and the animals that actually turn up on camp footage. Camp misery gives you the funniest names of all: rice rations, leaky shelters, sand in everything.

A good Survivor team name works out loud when a host announces a challenge winner, fits on a buff or a T-shirt, and tells the other teams which kind of player you are. Strategy-minded groups gravitate to alliance and blindside names; competitive groups take challenge names; the group that shows up for the snacks usually chooses something self-deprecating.

If you are running a Survivor party or office competition, give each team a color, a two-syllable tribe word (Kalu, Vosa, Sivo), and one of the joke names as a slogan. That mirrors how the show itself layers a formal tribe name over the castaways' running gags.
