Slasher Name Generator

Slasher villains are named in a handful of recognizable ways. The mask names describe what the audience sees: Ghostface, Leatherface, Pinhead, the Shape (Michael Myers in the Halloween script), Sackhead. The occupation names turn something ordinary into a threat: the Miner from My Bloody Valentine, the Fisherman from I Know What You Did Last Summer, the Groundskeeper, the Ice Cream Man, the Driller Killer. Press nicknames use a location plus a verb noun (the Springwood Slasher, the Bay Harbor Butcher, the Woodsboro Killer). And the most unsettling slashers often have plain human names, because Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Harry Warden, and Billy Loomis sound like neighbors, not monsters.

What separates a good slasher name from a goofy one is restraint and specificity. One concrete detail (a hook, a mask, a small town) does more than three adjectives. Alliteration works if it stays quiet (Harry Warden, Billy Lenz); rhyme and puns tip a killer into parody unless that is the goal, as with Chucky or the Leprechaun.
