Sergals are a fictional species from the Vilous setting created by Mick39, with a distinctive shark-like wedge head, a lean predatory build, and a culture split between the militaristic Northern sergals of the Shigu region, the tribal Southern sergals, and the rarer Eastern variety. The best-known canonical characters have short, hard names: General Rain Silves, Zyn, Sarna, and Kite. That sets the template most sergal fans follow when naming an OC or fursona.

A convincing sergal name is usually one or two syllables, built around sharp consonants like K, Z, R, V, and TH, often with a doubled final consonant (Rikk, Vess, Grull) or a soft feminine ending like -ra, -sa, or -na (Kharza, Nyssa, Sarna). Northern sergals in fan works tend toward harsher, clipped names that suit soldiers and raiders, while Southern sergals get slightly softer, more open sounds. Surnames or clan names are optional; when used, they follow the same rules and are often a place or lineage, as in Rain of Shigu.
