Outer Worlds Name Generator

The Outer Worlds names its people like a 1900s company town that got launched into space. Companions and colonists carry plain, slightly antique first names (Parvati, Felix, Ellie, Maximillian, Nyoka, Phineas, Hortense, Udom, Percival) attached to surnames that sound like they belong on a factory gate or a ledger: Holcomb, Millstone, Fenhill, DeSoto, Welles, Tobson, Culkelly, Ingalsbee. Nothing is futuristic or cyberpunk. The joke of Halcyon is that the corporations are the only thing that ever advanced, so the naming is Edwardian, Depression-era and small-town, drawn from every background the colony ships carried.

The setting reinforces it. Brands are possessive and folksy (Spacer's Choice, Auntie Cleo's) or stiffly bureaucratic (Universal Defense Logistics), towns are named like mining camps (Edgewater, Fallbrook, Stellar Bay), and the ship is the Unreliable, so a character called Wendell Oakes or Beatrix Pemberton fits right in. The Outer Worlds 2 keeps this tone in Arcadia, adding Protectorate and Order of the Ascendant flavor but the same sort of people.

The list opens with canon companions and NPCs for reference, then moves to original captain, crew and colonist names: soldiers, scientists, vicars, foremen and corporate clerks from every background the colony ships carried.
