Nightborne Name Generator

The Nightborne, or shal'dorei, are the elves of Suramar in World of Warcraft, and their names sound different from those of night elves or blood elves. Blizzard gave the city of Suramar a distinctly French flavour: NPCs are called Valtrois, Victoire, Margaux, Vanthir and Elisande, and even the arcane-heavy names such as Thalyssra, Oculeth and Silgryn have a soft, aristocratic ring. Nightborne names avoid the harsh consonants of the kaldorei and lean on liquid l, r and s sounds with elegant endings: -yssra, -eth, -ois, -elle, -ande.

Surnames are rarer than among other elves, but the noble houses of Suramar use them: Ly'leth Lunastre and Anarys Lunastre are the best-known example. When shal'dorei do carry a family name it tends to reference the night sky, twilight or the Nightwell, hence Duskmere, Starmantle, Moonrise and Nightbloom style surnames. Titles matter enormously in Nightborne society too; Arcanist, Spellblade, Chronarch, Telemancer, Duskwatch Captain and Grand Magistrix all appear in the Nighthold and Suramar questlines and are worth using in roleplay.

The names here mix canonical characters, French-inspired given names, apostrophe forms in the Ly'leth pattern, and full given-plus-surname combinations for characters who belong to a noble house.
