Graphic design studios rarely name themselves the way other businesses do. You will not find many "Premier Design Solutions" on the awards lists; instead the strongest studio names are short, confident and a little bit odd, and they usually come from one of a few sources. The first is the craft itself: kerning, ligatures, overprint, halftone, bleed, pica, em dash, rich black and registration marks are all words designers use every day, and a name like Overprint or Kern & Co. tells other designers and clients you know the trade. The second is the founder-pairing format (Hollis & Vane, Tennant & Gray), which reads as established and works well for partnerships. The third is an evocative object, color or animal (Paper Fox, Vermilion, Night Owl) that hands you a logo idea for free.

The suffix matters less than people think. Studio, Graphics, Design Co., Press, House and Collective all work; the core word has to carry the name. Pick one that has a clear shape when set in type, that a client can spell after hearing it once, and that is not already the name of a known agency. Then check the .com or .design domain and an Instagram or Behance handle, because design studios are found online more than by walking past a door.
