Real art galleries name themselves in a few predictable ways, and each signals something about the gallery's ambitions. The richest source of contemporary gallery names is the vocabulary of art itself. Abstract structural words like Threshold, Interval, Confluence, Facet, and Ampersand are also common, especially for spaces that show conceptual or experimental work.

A good gallery name looks right in small caps on a white wall and in the credit line of an artist's CV. It should be easy to spell, distinct from other galleries in your city and on Artsy, and flexible enough to survive a change of location or program.
