Goblin Name Generator D&D

Goblins in Dungeons & Dragons are small, cowardly, cunning and everywhere, and their names are built to match. Almost every canonical goblin name is one or two syllables of hard consonants and short vowels: Yeemik and Droop from Lost Mine of Phandelver, Grol and Klarg the bugbear-adjacent bosses, Lhupo the goblin priest, Splug from Keep on the Shadowfell, Booyahg Booyahg the memetic Volo's example. Goblins do not have surnames in the human sense. Instead a goblin earns a descriptor from the tribe (One-Ear, Ratmuncher, Sixfingers) or, if it climbs high enough, a title like Boss, Chief or Booyahg, the goblin word for a spellcaster.

The sound matters more than any rule. Goblin names spit and click: g, k, z, x, sn, sk, gr and hard t dominate, and names ending in ik, ak, ug or ob feel more goblin than anything soft. Volo's Guide to Monsters and Monsters of the Multiverse describe goblin society as ruled by whoever is biggest and loudest, so a boss usually has a two-word name that advertises fear (Warchief Ugrit Skullcracker) while the rank and file are single grunts (Tuk, Wug, Yip) that even the DM can forget without consequence.
