About gamer names
A gamer name has to survive three tests at once: it has to fit the platform's character limit, it has to be readable in a kill feed at a glance, and it has to still feel like you after a thousand hours. Xbox gamertags allow 12 characters before a suffix is added, Riot IDs allow 3 to 16, Steam and Discord display names are looser, and Epic caps at 16. That is why the best in-game names tend to be one or two chunks: a single invented word (Vortexis, Zypher), a compound (Frostbyte, Pixelwraith), or a short phrase with underscores (Pocket_Sand, Local_Cryptid).
The names here are split across the registers people actually use. Sweaty one-word tags for ranked ladders. Funny handles that get a laugh in voice chat (NoScopeNancy, Sir_Snacksalot, Blame_The_Lag). Dark, lore-flavored names for RPGs and soulslikes (AbyssWatcher, KnellWarden). Cozy tags for co-op and farming games (LilSprout, MossyMug).
