Clash of Clans has two names to get right: your player name (the chief) and your clan name. Both are limited to 15 characters, and player names can only be changed once for free, so a rushed choice tends to stick around for years. The naming culture of the game draws from a few clear sources. First is the troop roster itself: Barbarians, Hog Riders, PEKKAs, Electro Dragons, Yetis and Wall Breakers all show up constantly in clan and player names. Second is attack strategy slang: Zap Quake, Queen Walk, Sui Lalo, GoWiPe, Mass Dragons and Hybrid are recognizable to any experienced player and instantly signal that the clan is competitive. Third is clan culture: donation rules (Donate or Die), war focus (Three Star Club, CWL Legends), region (Aussie Chiefs), and general vibe (Chill Clashers, Dad Clan). On top of that sits the usual layer of warrior mythology: Spartans, Vikings, Valhalla, Legion IX.

A good name is short, readable at a glance in the war map, and honest about what the clan does. Farmers, trophy pushers, and CWL grinders attract different members, and the name is the first filter.
