Forsaken Name Generator

The Forsaken are the free-willed undead of World of Warcraft, former citizens of Lordaeron who broke from the Lich King and rebuilt beneath the ruins of their capital. That backstory drives their names. Most Forsaken kept the name they died with, so the core stock is old-world human: Victorian and Gothic English names like Mortimer Montague, Coleman Farthing, Lilian Voss, Vellcinda Benton and Thomas Zelling, plus a few nobles such as Vincent Godfrey and Baron Ashbury from Gilneas.

On top of that base, Blizzard adds three flavors. Some Forsaken took a new name that reflects what they became, often mordantly funny: Putress, Helcular, Rotwell, Stitches. Others are known by rank and role first, since Undercity ran on titles: Deathguard, Deathstalker, Apothecary, Executor, Dark Ranger. And a smaller set of names come from elsewhere in Azeroth, because not every Forsaken was human; Sylvanas Windrunner and her Dark Rangers (Velonara, Kalira, Anya) are high elves, and Kel'Thuzad-style Scourge names show up on Forsaken who served the Lich King longest.

A good Forsaken name sounds like it belonged to a living person once, then went a bit wrong. Pairing an old-fashioned given name with a surname built from decay, graves or dusk (Corvin Ashgrave, Ophelia Blackwell) captures that better than stringing together Shadow-Death-Rot.
