About fantasy vampire names
Fantasy vampire names work because they sound old. A vampire was named centuries ago and simply never updated, so the best names pull from historical naming pools: Wallachian and Hungarian aristocracy (Vladislaus, Erzsebet, Corvinus), Old French and Italian nobility (Sylvain de Montclair, Lucrezia Falconieri), Latin epithets that sound carved on a tomb (Aurelius Nox, Livia Sanguina), and Victorian English gentry (Augustin Ravenscar, Wilhelmina Harker). Bram Stoker, Sheridan Le Fanu and Anne Rice all leaned on exactly these sources.
Structure matters as much as sound. A noble particle (de, von, di) or a title (Count, Baroness, Lord) instantly signals wealth, land and age. Surnames built from a dark noun plus a landscape word (Blackthorne, Ravencroft, Duskmere) give a gothic feel without being obviously fake. Single names, by contrast, suggest something ancient or monstrous: Akasha, Alucard, Kain, Nosferatu-style creatures who have outlived surnames altogether.
