Drone Name Generator

Real drones already come with strong naming conventions you can borrow. Consumer and prosumer models tend to be small, sharp words: DJI's Mavic, Phantom, Inspire, Avata, and Air; Parrot's Anafi and Bebop; Skydio; Autel's Evo. Military UAVs almost always take the name of a bird of prey or a hunter (Predator, Reaper, Global Hawk, ScanEagle, Raven, Puma, Bayraktar), and NASA named its Mars helicopter Ingenuity and its upcoming Titan rotorcraft Dragonfly. Racing and freestyle FPV pilots go the other way entirely, naming their hand-built quads after how they fly or how often they crash: Lawn Dart, Tree Magnet, Angry Hairdryer, Yeet.

For a personal drone, the best names are short enough to say when you're calling out a launch or landing at the field, and distinctive enough to tell apart if you own more than one. Bird names, wind names, and weather words fit naturally because they describe flight without sounding like a product catalogue. For fiction, tabletop, or game design, tactical designations (Sentinel, Overwatch, Shrike, Wraith) read as military hardware, while mythological flyers (Garuda, Icarus, Thunderbird) suit sci-fi.

The list mixes falconry and songbird names, insect names for micro drones, joke names for crash-prone builds, wind and weather words, and callsign-style designations for fictional UAVs.
